摘要: Stereoacuitythresholdsmeasuredondisparitypedestalsaregenerallyfoundtoincreaseexponentiallyasthepedestalsmoveawayfromhoropters.However,Farelletal.recentlyfoundthatforsinusoidalstimulithisthresholdfunctionhadadip—apedestaleffect.Thispaperexaminestheunderlyingneuralmechanism.Wesuggestageneraldisparitycodingschemewithtwopositionparameters,whicharenecessarytoaccountforthephenomenonthattheresponseoftheenergymodeldependsontheabsolutephaseofthestimulus.Thisschemewasimplementedtosimulatetheresponses,calculatedfromanenergymodel,oftheneuronsofafullV1corticalcolumn.Toexplainthestereopedestaleffect,weproposeadecodingmechanism,whichisfirstprocessedalongthephasedimensionandthenalongtheorientationdimension.Thefinalstepofthedecodingmechanism,probabilitysummationovertheoutputsofspatialfrequencychannels,yieldsthedip,producingadisparityincrementthresholdfunctionsimilartothepsychophysicalresult. ...
